Retired, after 30 years with General Motors, in July 1995, and have since been providing industrial, manufacturing and process engineering services for engineering and manufacturing firms in the United States, Canada and Latin America.

Professional Qualifications

Project Management - Project Manager for a Rear Suspension Module to be supplied to GM by Linamar de Mé xico, a Canadian company. Currently Engineering Manager for Mé xican operations of Steyr-Daimler-Puch, an Austrian automotive company, that will supply Engine, Transmission and Rear Suspension Modules to GM de Mé xico. I have been responsible for all process, manufacturing and facilities engineering activities related to the projects. Managed installation of tooling for the new GM Truck product validation center at Pontiac, Michigan. Expedited construction and equipment contracts (in Sã o Paulo) for the new Mercedes-Benz assembly center in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais (Brazil).

Leadership - Three years as supervisor of 16 Resident Industrial Engineers who developed assembly labor standards, provided direct floor support to production managers and acted as liaison between central product engineering and three division assembly centers.

Process Development - Led development of Trim assembly facilities, tooling and processing for the new GM vehicle assembly center at Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila (Mé xico) and for Chassis at the new GM assembly center at Lake Orion, Michigan. Developed and managed the implementation of various assembly process data and information improvements that were to become the corporate standard for future GM process documents.

Industrial Engineering - More than twenty years of assembly center floor service supporting production managers in planning, designing and implementing facilities, tooling, and work stations, and in negotiating with labor union representatives and improving productivity through better methods and technology.

Education - BA in Sociology, 1972, Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA.

Language - Native English and fluent in Spanish.

Computer - Functional proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

National and Community Service - Two years as Peace Corps Volunteer in Dominican Republic; four years in U. S. Air Force as Intelligence Operations Analyst (Staff Sergeant) in Florida, Guam, South Vietnam and Massachusetts.
